Situated directly opposite major continental ports, the Port of Lowestoft serves the busy sea routes between the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, and the Baltic States.

The Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) is a major port redevelopment project in the Outer Harbour at ABP’s Port of Lowestoft. LEEF will provide a facility that is suitable for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities and construction support for the offshore energy industry, helping cement Lowestoft’s position in the region as an offshore energy hub.

Works have included the creation of an upgraded, up to 350 metres long quayside and deeper water, providing up to 3 berths suitable for Service Operations Vessels (SOV), Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) and Walk-to-Work Vessels (W2W). Each berth will have bunkering, water and electricity connectivity.

Capital dredging, totalling 170,000m3, has also been carried out in the Outer Harbour and approach channels, which will help facilitate minimum depth berth pockets of 7.5 metres.

Additionally, up to 4.5 acres of storage space (mixture of new and existing) has been constructed.

Ovenden Allworks, working alongside McLaughlin and Harvey completed the enabling earthworks, excavating and filling approximately 40,000m3 of material.

The installation of the surface water system, including 400lm of 300mm -450mm dia pipework and 30nr chambers, including manholes, catchpits, penstock valve chambers and separators, plus 300m of channel drainage with sump units

The installation of services including 1500lm of ducting, 500lm of 180mm water pipe and 300lm of pre cast concrete fuel troughs. Including 27nr bespoke pre cast concrete units weighing 3+ tonnes each, all rated to F900 weight loading.

To complete the works we prepared 16,000m2 of subbase for tarmac and concrete surfacing.
