This project was the extension of the Bexhill surface water outfall pipe, which discharged directly into the sea on Bexhill beach.

The existing outfall was blocking due to the beach material washing back up the pipe in severe tides. This was causing a blockage to form which resulted in the discharged surface water failing to flow correctly along the pipe and caused flooding during periods of heavy rainfall further up the surface water drainage system.

Works included the demolition of approximately 15m of existing ductile iron outfall pipe, its support structure (including piles down to bed level) and a beach marker.

The installation of a new pipe support structure including the installation of 28nr timber piles, driven into the beach.

Installation of new ductile iron pipe 1m diameter 30m long, fixed on to the new extended structure.

Installation of new can beach marker and base, to mark the end of the new structure.

Repairs to the manhole chamber on the promenade previously damaged by the flooding.
