Following the competitive tender process, Ovenden Allworks were appointed to undertake the earthworks package for the new Thanet Parkway train station.

The works comprised of 12,000m3 of excavation down to formation and disposal off site. The material was transported by Ovenden Tipper services and disposed at Ovenden's own tip in Tilmanstone.

The design included both permeable and impermeable paved areas, therefore a mix of type 1, type 3 and 6F5 subbase material were required to be imported to site and laid. In total over 20,000 tonnes of aggregate was supplied and laid by Ovenden Allworks on both geotextile and impermeable liners.

The aggregate placing and excavation was efficiently completed using GPS controls on Ovenden Plant hire's machinery.

These works were completed on budget and within the 10 week programme.

We also undertook all testing required, from CBR's, grading and moisture content, DCP's and clegg hammer testing to ensure the works were completed in line with the specification.
