LITTLEBOURNE FLOOD DEFENCE

Ovenden Allworks successfully tendered for the flood defence works on the River Stour in Littlebourne.

The access to these works was through a nursing home, meaning that extra care had to be taken to ensure there was minimal disruption and maintaining close cooperation with them at all times.

These works included two sections, a brick wall, with supporting piers. Due to its flood defence functions it had to be finished with lime mortar was utilised.

The second element was a hardwood timber wall supported by timber piles driven into the river bank using an excavator and back filled with imported clay for further reinforcement to the flood defence.

The works were finished off with an extension to the existing footpath and decorative flower beds for the nursing home.​
