After almost 25 years occupying the same site in central Canterbury, The Ling group decided to relocate their business to the outskirts of Canterbury at Hersden.

Ovenden’s were chosen alongside another local contractor Cardy’s to construct Phase 1 of the new development. Cardy’s were appointed as design and build contractor and Ovenden’s as groundworks and RC works contractor.

Works consisted of enabling earthworks to reshape and lay a crushed concrete layer across the whole of the site to allow works to continue during the winter months.

The works comprised drainage both surface water and foul, up to 3m deep, together with associated chambers and petrol interceptors, the foundations for a new 65m x 40 m building, the laying of approximately 4500m2 of reinforced concrete slabs and 2 new RC weighbridge structures.
