The most eastern groyne at Rock-a-Nore, on the Hastings sea front bears the brunt of the easterly weather fronts that approach Hastings. Over time this constant battering had left the groyne in a state of disrepair.

Working with the local council and the East Kent Engineering Partnership, Ovenden Allworks removed any damaged sections and replaced them with a new concrete siding and deflection timber. Tricky access and weather conditions made this fairly simple job much more complex.

The works consisted of the installation of a temporary working platform to construct the formwork and pour the new reinforced concrete sections. Working in sections along the groyne.

The works were completed by cutting, drilling and installing installing new hardwood deflection timbers, then finally repointing the wall where required.
